Unlike the Japanese roads, however, which were designed to attract tourists, the Singing Road is intended to help motorists stay alert and awake – 68% of traffic accidents in South. Each picture features carloads of happy family members traveling the country roads to come together for a joyous reunion. A CD of Canyon singing Denver’s classic accompanies the book, highly recommended for both the nostalgia of the song and the incredibly detailed, beautiful illustrations. On our family trip to New Mexico, we saw the Singing Road (aka Musical Highway) mentioned on the Roadside America website (a really neat travel resource).
